Two Big News Items

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

There are two big stories out there that I feel everyone must know. First, Greece has a big bond payment due to the ECB today. The other story is a bit strange. A source of mine in law enforcement told me that an order came down to check to see if their gas mask filters have not expired.

The Greek payment is just another rung on the ladder out of this recession. I am convinced that Greece will default, but if the ruling oligarchy doesn’t let it be called a default, then the derivatives do not kick in. Without the trigger for the CDS (credit default swaps) on the now-worthless bonds, then the big euro banks stay liquid. Otherwise, it is a free-for-all as the dominoes start to tumble.

I guess we will see later this afternoon and tonight if the payment is made, if it is extended, or Greece defaults. The Greek crisis is the current hole in the levy. If we extend this “world economy as a levy” metaphor, then it is being undermined in many places: the PIIGS, the shrinking middle class, the outrageous US government debt, the “meltup” on Wall St., etc. As the economic leaders sandbag one part of the levy, the rest weaken further, draining resources faster then they can be brought to bear on these weak points. In other words while the world economic powers shore up Greece, Italy and Spain are collapsing. Even here in America, the FDIC is running out of funds to bail out banks. The CBO (congressional budget office) is endlessly revising the cost of socialized medicine upwards, while increasing the costs of our wars.

What’s going to happen when we are at war with Iran? The answer is more money printing, and eventually hyperinflation.

Onto the second story. You would think that a regular inventory of equipment is a normal thing for large law enforcement agencies, but it isn’t. Even after 9-11, there was no organized inventory of gas mask filters. My own conjecture leads me to believe that this is coming down from a federal agency, not at the whim of some higher-up in the chain of command.

As a prepper I am immediately thinking this has to do with the executive order signed by our President last Friday, the National Defense Resources Preparedness . Full text is here. A lot of people are freaking out about this. In short, it gives the Feds the right to take anything you own, make you work at their whim without compensation, and other anti-freedom and anti-free market stuff that gives the Libertarian in me an eye twitch that won’t go away.

I’m not as concerned as most preppers because there was an existing series of executive orders that already allowed this stuff. At first glance this seems to collect them all in one spot for easy dissemination to the goons in charge of the work gangs.I have not read the full text yet, and compared it to the existing executive orders, but I want to. When I do, I’ll make a post about it.

I do not know why this gas mask inventory is going on, but my guess is that some federal agency (DHS, FEMA, etc.) told the head honcho that there was a confirmed possibility of a terrorist strike involving chemical weapons, or there is a concern of riots on the scale of the LA riots in the 90′s.

I have asked my source to look into if his organization has increased their inventory of tear gas or where this order came from. I don’t know if he can get me that information without ruffling feathers, and I asked him not to draw any attention to himself over this. This is also why I will not name him, or even which agency he works for.

So there is a lot of stuff going on, I just hope my grain mill gets here before the bad stuff goes down. Stay alert. Trust no one. Keep your laser handy.

An American Tragedy

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

It’s a sad day for freedom. Our (so-called) representative government has decided that American citizens are no longer derserving of the rights that our Constitution enumerates. Today, our representatives desecrated the memories of every man and woman who lost thier lives for the now- illusion of freedom in the United States. The Defense Authorization Bill has a provision in it to allow the government to indefinitely detain and execute, without trial, an American citizen – even here in America.

“Barack Obama has abandoned a commitment to veto a new security law that allows the military to indefinitely detain without trial American terrorism suspects arrested on US soil who could then be shipped to Guantánamo Bay.” – The Guardian

“While the bill never expanded the authority to detain American citizens indefinitely without charges, proponents said the legislation would codify court decisions finding the President does have the authority to declare “enemy combatants,” as commander-in-chief and under the post-9/11 Authorization for Use of Military Force against al Qaeda and its allies.” – CBS news

“Obama said that he would veto the defense bill that contained a horrific provision for the indefinite detention of American citizens. While many predicted it, Obama has now again betrayed the civil liberties community and lifted the threat of the veto.”  -  Jonathan Turley

I understand that this law doesn’t mean we will have gestapo thugs running black bag operations on average Jane and John Q. Public. The way I see it, Liberty is not to be trifled with, the slope to a totalitarian police state is very slippery, and I have zero confidence that anyone in the federal government is able to restrain themselves from taking more and more power from us.

This is why the bar must be set so high. I don’t always agree with the ACLU, but over time I see they set the bar so high for free speech because they know the politicians are constantly trying to push the bar down. We banded together as tribes and clans in pre-homo sapiens history because a community is stronger than the individual. Eventually these clans and tribes needed some direction and focus for the group and government was born. Some rallied against the chief and the shaman because they wanted to call their own shots. They felt that the chief/shaman/headman was trying to broker to much control, and they were not going to have any of it.

Fast-forward several hundred thousand years and we have the same struggle, but on a much larger scale with vastly more important stakes. Our government can affect every other person on the planet, directly or indirectly, with the policies set in Washington D.C. Doubt me? If they revoke all the environmental laws wouldn’t it rain acid in Africa? We need to make a stand. We need to set the bar high for our personal freedoms, not to protect some scumbag terrorist, but to protect ourselves.

There have been many, many stories on how the Department of Homeland security has been broadening the definition of “Domestic Terrorist” so the very word could soon be a synonym for “American Citizen.” The DHS will (or already is) printing a list of characteristics that mark a person as a domestic terrorist. Perhaps only if you meet all fifty points you will be questioned or possibly black-bagged to GITMO. After a while, the DHS will change the rules so you make the black ops list if you meet forty of these points. Then thirty. This is the slippery slide that the black and white nature of “us and them” thinking leads to. The thinking that the federal government deriving its athority from itself, instead of the Government deriving it’s authority from the consent of the people.

At what point does the higher ups determine that the quiet guy who goes to church every Sunday with his family, has a year’s worth of food, lives off the grid with a garden and some livestock, and possess (gasp!) firearms, meets this list and is whisked off to GITMO for water-boarding? Thanks to this bill, he won’t have a lawyer. He won’t ever see a courtroom. He won’t plead his case to a judge. Hell, he won’t even get to stand in front of a military tribunal. He will never see his family again, even when they pump the drugs into his veins to stop his heart.

Will it happen to us? Probably not. It can happen, though. Unless we, the citizens of these United States, make ourselves heard, then this will quietly go into affect. Then, like the Patriot Act, it will be quietly used to abuse the rights of everyday citizens. Write or call your congressman NOW, and maybe we can get it changed.

I fear there is a zeitgeist occurring, where the following trends crystallize into a new paradigm – the American Police State. I hope it does not happen, but the trend is evident.

  • Militarization of police – military-grade weapons, including tanks, and training pushing the idea that everyone is a criminal. (Even if you peacefully assemble)
  • The police-ification of our military – our military is getting a lot of training and practice in urban pacification of a semi-hostile indigenous population.
  • The decay of American’s faith in Congress, and how Congress could care less. They are continually marching on the same path, daring the citizens to vote them out.
  • The Department of Homeland Security’s “busy work” to make it seem like there are more and more terrorists here among us, and we need to “see something, say something” Just like it was 1949 in the USSR.
  • Degrading economic conditions where more and more people are dependent on the state, and will vote anyone in who will keep the ponzi scheme going.

No matter how this bill is used, the fact that it exists – in direct opposition to the 5th, 6th and 7th amendments – is an eye-opening realization on how the Federal government views its citizens.

A Failed Presidency

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

Our liberal savior has two more years in his failed Presidency. Regardless if he is elected again, this presidency has been an abject failure.

1) Unemployment. For those liberal elites who never worked a day in their lives unemployment is a meaningless number. For the rest of us who have wondered where we were going to get the money for the rent this month, this is the killer number. The only way the number has not skyrocketed is because of the millions of people who are “discouraged” and no longer count for the unemployment numbers. If Obama was going to have “Change we could believe in” then this is what many of his voters were thinking.

2) QE2. I could rant about this for hours. Let’s see we can print money and buy treasuries to fund a government whose expenditures are out of control. It’s called “MONETIZING THE DEBT” and the last place that did it was Zimbabwe. How did it work out for them?

3) Healthcare. Since we are not spending enough money on an over bloated government, let’s remove as much choice from the American citizen as possible and ram the health care bill down their throats. Florida’s court system just struck the whole bill down, and Virginia struck down a few bits, but not the whole thing. The GOP want’s to scrap the whole thing entirely. Why Obammy decided to go whole hog on this does not make sense to me. Maybe he thought it was an “easy win” that he could use the political capital he gained on something else. All he gets is a big fat FAIL.

4) Mexico. What has Obama done to safeguard our citizens from the failed state to the south? What steps has he done to contain the violence on the other side of the border? Nothing. Obama is the Commander in Chief, and it is his direct responsibility to maintain security along our borders. Yet again he’s too busy golfing to do his job.

5) Erosion of rights. He is pushing the totalitarian line when it comes to our rights as citizens. The G20 used brutal tactics upon American citizens, including sonic weapons for crowd control. He is preparing for another anti-weapon bill right now. An armed citizen is a free citizen, so both Republicans and Democrats would like to see us weakened. As they say “never waste a crisis” so I fully expect some draconian bill in the name of Giffords soon.

So there you have it. What other mischief can he do in the next 23 1/2 months?

There Is No Justice In A Police State

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

In Missouri, a family had it’s doors kicked in for a narcotics search warrant. The families dogs were shot seven times in front of a 7 year old. In the video, you can hear the guy’s anguish when he learns his dogs were shot. I’m surprised the Gestapo didn’t use a flash-bang grenade.

Why do our cops act like the military? There are rumors that military assets were used to track down the Times Square Bomber, which is a clear violation of Posse Comitatus. Yes, it’s good they got him, but it’s a easy slide to use such technology to track you when your late on your taxes.

If, like me, you think that the police state is going to increase in it’s tyranny then you need to prep for this. Watch the video and analyze the tactics used and develop methods to counteract them. If you have ever watched COPS or SWAT, then you can see just what needs to be done to counteract these assault tactics. I’m not endorsing attacks on the police, what I am calling for is for you to educate yourself in case an unconstitutional incident occurs. Like a pile of cops coming to take your firearms because some bureaucrat signed an “executive order.”

If anything, watching shows like COPS has shown me is that the more aggressive and tyrannical law enforcement acts, the less justice there is in the world. It’s a counter-intuitive notion to the politicians who want to “be tough on crime.” But to those of us who have been the subject of police brutality, we know with power comes corruption.  Without transparency and oversight of law enforcement, then we have a police state.

Please do not confuse the ability of common citizens to use cell phone cameras to document police activity as oversight. It certainly helps, but it’s not the same as leadership establishing clear policies and enforcing them. It’s one thing to snap a picture of a cop with his hand in the cookie jar, quite another to have the cop not steal at all.

This guy very well could be the kingpin of some massive marijuana cartel, I would like to see the supporting evidence of how the warrant was obtained. I could simply black out the basement windows and run tons of lights to burn electricity in order to have a narcotic warrant served on my house. Matter of fact, they did that in Texas somewhere to show how easy it was to get a warrant served on a house with no illegal activity. Was the force used necessary to protect the public from harm? Did the kid need to be traumatized by having his dogs killed? If they pulled that shit on me as a kid I would have tried to kill the fucktard cop with an axe.

So, who are the criminals?

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Civil Asset Forfeiture is a program where the police and prosecutors can seize property used in a crime and sell it to fund more police. Like all “big” governmental programs it starts with a good idea, i.e. punishing criminals, and then stomps on everyone’s rights.

So your on they way to pay cash for a car, and get pulled over for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. The cop claims to smell drugs and searches your car and you. He finds the cash and then calls for back up. Your detained, brought to the station and then your released after the detectives figure out your not a drug dealer. Your cash, however, has been seized and you need to sue to recover it. Your property is guilty, whereas you were innocent. The courts tie up your money for 2 years, all the while you need to buy a car.

This is intolerable. This is criminal. They way to financially punish a criminal is through a fine, not through theft. This is just another example in a long line of crimes committed by the government to screw us out of our rights.

I’m still catching up from the trip, all kinds of news for me to digest and report on, but this caught my eye.
